Residential - Housing for Varying Needs

Kamran Akbar

This site represented an excellent opportunity to redevelop a failing commercial development / brownfield site to provide 60 units of affordable housing to meet high demand.

The building takes a traditional form with pitched slate roof, reconstituted stone frontage wrapping around onto the south gable, and a two tone rendered rear. The fenestration has a contemporary form which gives the front and rear elevations a contemporary idiom, whilst still retaining the vertical linear detailing of the traditional tenement buildings along the street frontage.

The buildings are sited to maximise the development potential of the site whilst retaining historic building lines and reflecting the general pattern of the area.
