A new build development to provide 39 sheltered apartments on a previously contaminated Brownfield site. The extensive brief focused on minmising maintenance of the finished building and upholding sustainable issues. In addition to the environmentally sensitive specification of materials the works included reuse of rain water to flush toilets, a Centralised Heat & Power system to supplement electricity requirements and high levels of thermal insulation. The site is located near to the Airport where sound insulation was a key design challenge. In addition to the high quality windows the building is passively ventilated with sound attenuated ducts. CMA were commissioned to provide a full service from feasibility to completion.
